PalmWay is an FLHSMV-licensed driving school in Broward County with an office at 3325 Hollywood Blvd, Suite 401, Hollywood, FL 33021. We teach behind-the-wheel driving lessons in dual-control vehicles, provide free pickup and drop-off, and administer the Class E Driving Skills Test on site as an authorized third-party testing center. Lessons run seven days a week from 8 AM to 7 PM, and same-day road test appointments are usually available.
We serve students across Broward County, including Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs, Miramar, Pompano Beach, Plantation, Sunrise, Davie, Margate, Deerfield Beach, Coconut Creek, Tamarac, Lauderhill, Weston, Hallandale Beach, Cooper City, and Parkland. Whether you are a teen taking your first lesson or an adult who has never driven in the United States, we build a training plan around your current skill level.
Driving Lessons in Broward County Cover Local Roads and Highways
Every driving lesson in Broward County is one-on-one instruction in a fully insured, dual-control vehicle. Our cars have a second set of brakes and controls, so the instructor can intervene the moment something goes wrong. Standard lessons run 60 minutes, and double lessons of two hours are available when you want to cover more ground before a test. Each session is built around what you personally need to work on, not a fixed script.
You start with basic vehicle control - mirror setup, steering grip, turn signals, smooth acceleration and braking - in quiet residential neighborhoods. Once those feel automatic, we move to busier roads and the situations you will actually face after you get your license.
🛣️ Local road navigation
Major Broward routes like Sample Road, University Drive, Commercial Boulevard, and Oakland Park Boulevard, where lane discipline and turn positioning matter most.
🛞 Highway merging
I-95, Florida's Turnpike, and the Sawgrass Expressway. You learn to match highway speed on the ramp, find a gap in traffic, and merge without hesitating.
🅿️ Parking skills
Parallel parking against a street curb, backing into angled spaces, and maneuvering in tight garage decks.
🛡️ Defensive driving
Reading other drivers, holding a safe following distance, and reacting calmly to sudden lane changes and hard stops.
🏬 Commercial area practice
Real parking lots at Broward Mall, Sawgrass Mills, and neighborhood plazas, where pedestrians and reversing cars are constant.
🚦 Traffic navigation
The I-95 corridor, Sawgrass Expressway entrances, and Florida's Turnpike access points during moderate traffic.
Most students need six to ten hours of instruction before they are road-test ready. Complete beginners usually need eight to twelve, while drivers with practice behind them may need only four to six.
Booking driving lessons in Broward County is straightforward - tell us your address, your schedule, and where your skills are today, and we assign an instructor who already works that part of the county.

We also pick students up directly from high schools and colleges across the county - tell us your campus and dismissal time when you book, and your lesson starts as soon as classes end.

Certified Driving Instructors in Broward County Hold FLHSMV Certification
Every PalmWay instructor holds valid FLHSMV certification to teach driver education in Florida. That certification means they completed the required training program and passed state examinations covering teaching methodology, Florida traffic law, and risk management behind the wheel. It is renewed on a fixed schedule, and we verify it for every instructor on our roster.
FLHSMV certified
Current state certification, state examinations passed, background checked.
Bilingual instruction
Lessons available in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
All skill levels
Teens on their first lesson, adults who never learned, and seniors returning after years away from driving.
Patient teaching
Calm, quiet correction that builds confidence instead of pressure.
Our instructors adjust pace based on where you actually are. A nervous first-timer and a licensed driver from another country need completely different lessons, and neither one benefits from a fixed curriculum.

Road Test Services at Our Authorized Third-Party Testing Center
PalmWay is an authorized third-party testing center, which means you can take your Class E Driving Skills Test with us instead of waiting weeks for a state appointment. State-approved examiners administer the same official exam you would take at any Florida driver license office, scored against the same criteria. Same-day appointments are often available and next-day testing is standard, so a canceled or delayed state slot does not push your license back by a month.
📋 Third-party testing
The official Class E Driving Skills Test at our location, no weeks-long wait.
⏱️ Optional warm-up lesson
Thirty minutes of practice immediately before your exam to settle nerves and refresh blind spot checks, mirror use, and controlled stops. Students who take it consistently perform better on the first attempt.
🚗 Our insured vehicle
If your own car does not meet testing requirements, use ours. You test in the same car you practiced in, which removes one variable on a day that already has enough of them.
Your examiner gives you the result the moment the test ends. If you pass, you receive documentation to take to a driver license office for your physical card. If you do not pass, you can retake the test after more practice - most students who fail need only one or two additional lessons to correct the specific errors the examiner noted.
Booking through a driving school in Broward County that is also a testing center means one appointment instead of two, and the examiner already knows the car you arrive in.

Required Documents for the Class E Driving Skills Test
Bring every document on this list to your road test appointment. The examiner verifies all of them before the exam starts, and a missing item means rescheduling for another day.
| Document | Details |
|---|---|
| Valid learner's permit | Must be current and not expired |
| Government photo ID | Passport, state ID card, or certified birth certificate |
| Course completion certificate | TLSAE for all first-time applicants, plus DETS if under 18 |
| Parental consent form | Required for applicants under 18 years old |
| Proof of insurance | Required only if you test in your own vehicle |
Bring original documents, not photocopies or phone photos. Examiners cannot accept copies for identity verification.
Applicants under 18 must have held a learner's permit for at least 12 months before taking the Driving Skills Test, and must log the supervised driving hours Florida requires. Applicants 18 and older can test as soon as they feel ready, with no mandatory holding period.
Common Road Test Routes in Broward County
Road test routes in Broward County stay close to the testing site and repeat the same maneuvers, so practicing the actual streets makes a measurable difference. We recommend driving each route several times before test day until the turns and intersections feel routine.
📍 Margate area
Routes use the streets around Sample Road and the residential grid between Margate Boulevard and Royal Palm Boulevard. Examiners watch how you handle school zones, four-way stops, and right-of-way at uncontrolled intersections.
📍 Fort Lauderdale
Tests frequently include stretches of Commercial Boulevard, Oakland Park Boulevard, and Sunrise Boulevard. Expect business districts with pedestrian traffic and cars reversing out of angled parking spaces.
📍 Coral Springs
Routes cover University Drive and Wiles Road, including shopping center entrances with multiple turn lanes. These test whether you hold the correct lane through a turn and signal early enough on lane changes.
📍 Pompano Beach
Routes near Atlantic Boulevard mix commercial traffic with residential side streets, and usually include at least one left turn across oncoming traffic without a protected arrow.
Class E Knowledge Exam and TLSAE Requirements in Florida
Class E Knowledge Exam
The Class E Knowledge Exam is a 50-question multiple-choice test on Florida traffic law, road signs, and safe driving practice. You need 40 correct answers to pass. Questions cover right-of-way rules, posted and default speed limits, parking restrictions, and the meaning of road markings and pavement colors. Results are immediate, and the exam is available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and several other languages. Our permit exam package costs $29.95 and includes a practice test.
TLSAE course
TLSAE stands for Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education. Florida requires this four-hour course for every first-time driver license applicant regardless of age, and you must complete it before the Knowledge Exam. It covers how alcohol and drugs impair driving ability, Florida DUI law, and the legal and financial consequences of driving under the influence. Our online TLSAE course costs $19.95, is available in English and Spanish, and the completion certificate does not expire.
Taking the permit exam on site means you skip the line at a state office entirely. You can complete TLSAE online at your own pace or in a classroom setting - either format satisfies the state requirement.

Enroll →DETS Course Is Required for First-Time Drivers Under 18
The Drug, Alcohol and Traffic Awareness course, known as DETS, is a six-hour program required for every Florida resident under 18 applying for a first learner's permit. It must be completed before you take the permit test, and no exemptions apply based on prior coursework. Our online DETS course costs $29.95.
DETS covers Florida traffic law, safe driving practice, and the specific risks impaired driving creates for new drivers. The material combines video, written content, and knowledge checks.
Both online and classroom formats are accepted by the state. Online lets a teen work at their own pace around school and activities, while a classroom session gives direct instructor interaction. Either produces the same certificate.

Specialized Training for Nervous Drivers, Seniors, and Foreign License Holders
Not every student arrives at the same starting point, and some need a program built differently from the beginning rather than a slower version of the standard one.
🌿 Nervous driver program
For students whose anxiety about driving is the actual obstacle. Sessions move deliberately, stay in low-traffic areas longer, and progress to busier roads only when you are ready.
🌍 Foreign license holders
For drivers licensed in another country who need to adapt to Florida rules and road design. We cover right-side driving, American sign shapes and colors, four-way stop conventions, and the Florida-specific laws that differ from what you learned at home.
👴 Senior driver refresher
For older drivers returning after a break or wanting to sharpen specific skills. Lessons address common age-related changes in vision, reaction time, and neck mobility, and teach compensating techniques.
🔄 Refresher lessons
For licensed drivers who have not driven in years, or who avoid highways, parallel parking, or night driving and want to fix that.

Driver License Service Centers in Broward County
Florida does not have a DMV. Driver license services are handled by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and by Broward County Tax Collector service centers, which is what people usually mean when they say DMV.
| Office | Address | ZIP | Main services |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fort Lauderdale | 1780 W Oakland Park Blvd | 33311 | License services, renewals, road tests |
| Pompano Beach | 806 E Atlantic Blvd | 33060 | License services, permit testing |
| Plantation | 7290 W Sunrise Blvd | 33313 | Full service office, CDL testing |
| Hollywood | 3501 Hollywood Blvd | 33021 | License services, renewals |
| Lauderdale Lakes | 3718 W Oakland Park Blvd | 33313 | Driver license services |
| Margate | 1135 Banks Road | 33063 | Driver license services |
Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and a few offer limited Saturday hours. Check current hours before you go, since holiday schedules change without much notice and some locations require an appointment.
Even if you take your road test at a third-party center like ours, you still visit a state office once to collect your physical license card. Bring your passing road test documentation, proof of identity, your Social Security number, and two proofs of residential address. Expect the visit to take one to two hours.

We train on Broward County roads and the traffic patterns you will drive every day after you are licensed, not on quiet streets chosen because they make lessons easy. That is the whole point of learning locally - the roads on your test and the roads on your commute are the same roads.
That local focus is why PalmWay works as a driving school Broward County families come back to - a second teen in the house, a parent finally getting licensed, a relative who just moved to Florida.
Comparing driving schools in Broward County usually comes down to three questions: who holds a current FLHSMV license, who can give you the Driving Skills Test on site, and who can actually reach your address for pickup. We answer yes to all three.
