Lauderdale Lakes is a small city in central Broward County, between Fort Lauderdale and Sunrise. We are a licensed driving school offering vehicle rental for scheduled road test appointments — the road test is conducted by a state examiner.
Overview of the Road Test Location in Lauderdale Lakes
The road test starting area is located near the State Road 7 corridor — one of the busiest commercial strips in Broward County. You will find bus stops, frequent driveways, and heavy pedestrian foot traffic right around the starting point. This is not a quiet suburban location, so knowing what to expect matters.

The state examiner meets you at the vehicle and checks your documents before anything else.
Vehicle Inspection
Lights, turn signals, brake lights, horn, and windshield wipers — all must pass before driving.

Return & Result
The test ends at the same starting location where your result is given.
Road Test Route in Lauderdale Lakes
The route typically begins on surface streets near State Road 7, then moves into residential neighborhoods east or west of the main corridor. Speed limits shift between 25 mph in residential zones and 35–40 mph on commercial roads.
🛣️ State Road 7 Corridor
Starts on surface streets near State Road 7. Expect at least one multi-lane section requiring a left turn across traffic. Missing a speed limit sign is a common fail point in this area.
🏘️ Residential Neighborhoods
Moves into residential areas east or west of the main corridor. One section has cars parked on both sides — lane positioning is tight, and drifting toward parked cars is a common struggle.
🛑 Four-Way Stops
Several four-way stops are on the route where rolling stops cause many failures. Visibility is good — examiners have a clear view of whether your wheels fully stop.
🏫 School Zones
The route passes through school zones with reduced speed limits during certain hours. The examiner watches whether you slow down proactively or only after passing the sign.
Common Mistakes at This Location
These are the most frequent reasons students fail at the Lauderdale Lakes road test. Know them before you show up.
🛑 Rolling Stops
The four-way stops on this route are placed where visibility is good — examiners have a clear view of whether your wheels fully stop. A lot of students fail here.
↪️ Wide Right Turns
On the commercial section near State Road 7, students often swing wide on right turns and drift into the adjacent lane. Right turns should stay in the right lane the entire time.
🪞 Late Mirror Checks
Before every lane change, you need to check your mirrors AND do a shoulder check. Examiners at this location mark this separately — mirror only is not enough.
⚡ Speeding Through Transition Zones
When the road changes from 35 mph to 25 mph, you need to reduce speed before entering the zone, not inside it. Many students brake too late.
👀 Staring at the Front of the Car
Scanning far ahead matters especially on State Road 7 where pedestrians step off curbs mid-block. Looking close gets marked down.
🚦 Incorrect Lane Choice Before Turns
When approaching a left turn on a two-lane road, students sometimes drift right before turning. Position your car in the correct lane early, not at the last second.
🟢 Hesitation at Green Lights
On multi-lane sections, some students wait for a fully clear road before proceeding. Normal defensive driving is expected — not stopping in the middle of the road when it is your right of way.
What Documents You Must Bring
⚠️ Missing one document means no test that day. The appointment fee is typically non-refundable in that situation.
Required Documents Checklist
📅 Under 18? Permit Must Be 12 Months Old
If you are under 18, your learner's permit must have been issued at least 12 months before the test date. This is a Florida state requirement — there are no exceptions. If your permit was issued less than 12 months ago, you cannot take the road test regardless of your skill level.
Vehicle Requirements for the Road Test
The state examiner checks the car before the test begins. If the vehicle fails inspection, the test does not happen.
Lights
Both headlights must work. All four turn signals must flash. Both brake lights must be functional — not just one.
Horn
The examiner will ask you to press the horn. It must work on the first try.
Windshield
No large cracks in the driver's field of vision. Wipers must work and clear the glass properly.
Mirrors
Working rearview mirror and both side mirrors — all three must be adjustable and not cracked.
Tires
No visibly flat or dangerously worn tires. The examiner does a visual walk-around.
Seat Belts
All seat belts must latch and retract. The examiner's belt must also work.
Driver's Window
The driver's window must roll down completely so the examiner can communicate from outside if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my own car for the road test?
Yes, but it must pass the vehicle inspection described above. If it fails, the test is cancelled. Using our vehicle removes that risk.
What happens if I fail the road test?
You must wait at least 24 hours before re-testing. You will need to book a new appointment.
Do I need a warm-up drive before the test?
It is not required, but strongly recommended — especially if you have not driven our vehicle before. The warm-up lets you adjust to the mirrors, braking feel, and steering before the examiner gets in.
Can I reschedule my road test appointment?
That depends on where your appointment was booked. Check the cancellation policy of the location where you scheduled.
What if I arrive without my learner's permit plastic card?
The test cannot happen. Paper permits, screenshots, or expired cards are not accepted. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Is the test given in the rain?
Yes. Rain does not cancel a road test in Florida. Drive accordingly — more following distance, lower speed, lights on.
