You will not drive on I-95 or Florida's Turnpike — both have interchanges on PGA Blvd just west of the office, but highway driving is not part of the standard Class E road test. Common Mistakes at the Palm Beach Gardens Road Test
Most people who fail on PGA Blvd can drive perfectly well — they lose points on small, fixable errors that the specific road features around The Gardens Mall bring out.
🛑 Rolling Stops
Still the number-one reason for a failed test. The office and residential blocks off RCA Blvd, Burns Rd and Gardens Pkwy have plenty of stop signs, and the examiner watches for a complete stop behind the line. The wheels must stop turning entirely before you move again.
🔀 Lane Choice on PGA Blvd
PGA Blvd is a six-lane road with dual left-turn pockets into the mall, right-turn lanes and, at Alternate A1A, a flyover where the through lanes rise over the tracks while the outer lanes drop down to the intersection. Being in the wrong lane before a turn costs points — decide your lane early and signal well ahead.
🏫 Speed Control on Side Streets and School Zones
The moment you leave the 45 mph PGA Blvd corridor, the limit drops to 25–35 mph on Burns Rd, RCA Blvd and the residential streets. If the examiner heads toward Palm Beach Gardens High School off Holly Dr during school hours, the school-zone limit applies and every mile over it counts.
🚂 Railroad Crossings and Mirror Checks
The FEC tracks run beside Alternate A1A, and RCA Blvd and Burns Rd cross them at grade — never stop on the tracks and never try to beat the gates. On every lane change, the examiner watches your head and eyes for a mirror and blind-spot check, not just where the car ends up.

One Important Thing About Your Florida License
In Florida, passing your road test in an automatic-transmission car does not limit you to automatics afterward — you are legally allowed to drive a manual as well. The state does not put a transmission restriction on your license based on the vehicle you tested in.
